  I was the lead creative on the Kellogg's Snacks promotional account while we were deciding which schools to include in the national promotion. The criteria was that the 16 participating schools had to be solid basketball programs (duh), collectively represent all four geographic regions of the USA and have a high redemption rate (meaning, that school's fans buy their merchandise -- and lots of it).

  So while Texas, Missouri and Kansas were on Kellogg's short list to represent the midwest, Kansas balked because they weren't slated to be one the featured schools on the front packaging. So my account team then approached Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. As negotiations were stalling, I noticed someone on my alma mater's fan site had posted the latest NCAA merchandise sales figures -- the University of Arkansas ranked 18th at the time.

  I shared that with the account team, they recommended Arknsas to Kellogg's, a deal was struck through the Collegiate Licensing Company, and bada-bing, Arkansas is one of 16 schools featured in the 2008 college basketball promotion. Did your school make the cut?
