  • This "mystical" concept is amazing. I've also had many experiences with the same results!

This was an interesting article and very well written!

  • Here are some inexpensive ideas to promote your restaurant & to increase your sales.

Give out magnets, magnetic memo boards, and wooden nickels to the people that visit your restaurant. You can have your daily dinner specials printed on them.

For the wooden nickles ( 1000 for 13 cents each ) the customers can turn those in for a free icecream cone with a purchase of a dinner.

You can also distribute them to area hotels, resorts and local stores. Have the customers turn in the wooden nickels to your staff in order to redeem their icecream cones. You can then use them over & over again! Talk about " Bang for your Buck"!

Have “Discount Local Days” printed on your magnets and magnetic memo boards with your specials printed on them.

The magnetic memo boards is very useful for your clients. They'll stay on the fridge and it'll be a daily reminder to visit your restaurant!

This will be great repeat exposure for you ....You can't buy that kind of exposure with any other forms of advertising!

All the kids will drag their parents to your restaurant to get the free icecream cones (and then they'll buy dinner as well ! )

    Good Luck!

  • Ok, maybe " weak " isn't the word.

    The word should be comfortable.

Most people would rather stay in their comfort zone than take risks to pursue their dreams.

They don't want the feelings associated with taking risks like: discouragement, fear, rejection, hurt feelings and other negative emotions so they play it safe & live a life of mediocrity.

Other people might try once or twice to live their dreams and then after the inevitable set-backs, they often give up.

The common denominator of all successful people is their PERSISTENCE.

My personal attitude is, no one has the right to discourage anyone from pursuing their dreams and entreprenuers shouldn't listen to those that have given up on theirs.

  • Great article!

The thing about risks is that not everyone is going to support you.

You need to believe in yourself and do what you think is right. If you don't, you'll develop a weak character and that'll become more damaging to you than the risks you're taking.

If you stay persistant, people will have no choice but to accept what you're doing and then when you succeed, they'll say they've been supporting you all along!

Most people are weak in following their own dreams so they'll discourage others from following theirs.

  • I disagree. Magnetic business cards are very well received. They come in many sizes, including standard business card size(3.5X2) and outlast all others by far. When I go to a function I give out a regular card & a magnetic one.

I doubt anyone is rubbing their business cards on top of their credit card strips & their cell phones to see what happens.

Also, the Magnetic business cards are not as strong as the Earth's magnetic field so they cannot depolarize everything within it's magnetic reach! lol

I personally don't believe in paying a Sales or business coach. You can learn from a chosen mentor without having to pay for it. If you do decide to hire someone, why not hire someone in your industry rather than someone who claims to know it all?

There are alot of good books on sales and marketing that are more valuable than someone who thinks they know more than you in your chosen field. Napoleon Hill, Dale Carnegie, Zig Ziglar, Jeffery Gitomer, and Jay Conrad Levinson just to name a few, that are proven Business Coaches.

    Just my two cents.

  • Hi Anita,

Great article. As you know, most people don't care what we ( graphic artists , printers, promotional product companies ) call their artwork or what their dpi is, as long as their logo looks good.............

I try to give them a quick lesson in artwork & then take care of it.......

Check out this website, I just used it for the first time & it worked! My client had a crappy jpg. & I turned it into vector art! http://vectormagic.com/

Let me know what you think!

    Sincerely, Tommy

  • Great article! Your company image is on the line everytime you give out your business card to someone.

I recommend Magnet Business Cards to give out. Your Magnets will stay on your customers refrigerators or filing cabinets, long after the competitors business cards have been thrown away! Magnet Business Cards are a great way to seperate yourself from the other "loose cards" people are gathering during a networking function.
