As a teacher for 12 years, I have successfully employed mindfulness practices in the classroom to help create an environment of sustainable success through a less frantic and more thoughtful approach to learning. Though entirely secular, a contemplative-style education draws from meditative practices gathered from various interfaith traditions to provide students and teachers the skills to recognize and honor their individual roles within a co-created learning process. Increased awareness through the deliberate development of attention allows the development of a mutually supportive space within the classroom, within the school, and within the community.
