What Tia does

I'm a stress-reliever.

OK - so no, I don't own a massage salon (although, wow - that'd be neat) and I don't prescribe muscle relaxers, but...

I take the stress away from keeping up with a website and a blog. Some of you may understand how time-consuming that can be, especially if you don't know what you're doing!

Too many small business owners try to do everything themselves - often times, to save money. What ends up happening, though, is that 2-5 hours are spent each day, especially in the beginning, just keeping up with a website or fixing errors, or trying to make something work. Those hours translate into dollars.

My new thing is "keep your website happy :)" because a working, well-maintained website that actually WORKS for you is a happy website. And a happy you a happy website makes.

Also, as you may have noticed, I am a Wordpress junkie and love working with it. I use it primarily as a blog platform although its capabilities are extensive. Find out more here.

So, if you're in need of support for your website or blog, feel free to email me at tia@tiadpeterson.com and I'd be glad to help!

What does Tia need?

I'm always looking to connect with sole proprietors and small business owners, on both a personal and professional level.

Education

Tia graduated from Oral Roberts University in 2003 with a BA in Technical Writing and a minor in Public Relations and Advertising.

Experience

Nov. 2007-Present: Self Employed! I've been successfully self-employed since November of 2007. My business has evolved over time but I've steadily increased clients since then. My belief is that service is who you are, not what you do.

Overture Technologies 2005-2007 - Business Analyst As a lead business analyst at Overture, I wore many hats ranging from requirements documentation and elicitation, sales support, project support and assistance with quality assurance. I also helped make decisions on new hires, conducting team interviews and reviewing resumes.

GuideWorks, Inc (previously TV Guide Interactive) 2005 - Assistant Product Manager As Assistant Product Manager, I helped determine, develop, and support the core line of features of our company's main software product. Part of this job entailed working with partners and affiliates, participating and observing market research and usability research, and working in a cross-functional team to design, develop, test and implement the product.

One of my greatest achievements as an APM was coming with a pretty nifty new product which is patent-pending (yay, a patent for me). It's currently in production so if you have Comcast cable, you're likely to see something that I invented come into your home. Hint: it's cable for kids.

TV Guide Interactive 2003-2005 - Technical Communications Specialist My technical writing career got its professional start at this job in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I put my technical writing and editing training to use composing and compiling software requirements, product description documents and user guides. This was a great place to work and a really nice work environment.

I was subsequently promoted to Assistant Product Manager.

Temporary Solutions 1999-2003 - Temporary Staff Completed several short-term and long-term temporary administrative projects for Temporary Solutions. These ranged from full-time administrative assistant for a construction company, to assisting in the human resources department for a government contractor, to receptionist positions at various agencies.
