What Todd does

My clients begin wherever they are at and end up somewhere between quietly impressed and amazed with what is possible.

What Todd does best

I apply over fifteen years of self-motivated research and practice on pragmatic techniques for developing resilience, overcoming particular problems, and sharpening a sense of purpose and satisfaction. I light people up with a quiet fire that sometimes spills over beyond quiet.

Email me any topic or situation, include a few relevant details, and I'll send you a personally tailored introduction to my curious perspective and an estimate of what type of influence mindfulness, resilience, and clarity can make. A brief introductory dialogue also helps me choose clients.

What does Todd need?

I am looking for networking opportunities, advertising suggestions, and clients. My approach seems most appreciated and beneficial to clients who have some sense of personal motivation but who are often confused or somewhat ambiguous about how to apply their good intentions, their abilities, and their desire for happiness. I'm looking for people who feel that something is missing but they aren't quite sure what, people who are confused about their sense of place in the world, people who feel stuck but would like to give something back, and those who feel so successful in their endeavors that they are asking themselves, "Now what?!".

Education

MA in Counseling Psychology, Lewis and Clark College, Portland OR.

BA in Psychology, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

Assorted classes at Ithaca College and Reed College.

Experience

While I'm currently instructing at an SAT preparation course and privately tutoring, I have worked with a few personal clients as a life coach for about four years on everything from cooking to weightlifting to self-image to meditation.

When I was at Carbondale, I tutored approximately 80 college students with "learning disabilities" in over 40 courses.

In my secondary internship, I volunteered for an anger management group with clients mandated to treatment by the state of Oregon.

In my primary internship at the Portland VA, I worked with a number of groups and individuals. Groups included: emotional awareness and moods management, stress reduction, anger management, generalized anxiety treatment, post-deployment issues, and mindfulness-based depression treatment. Clients I saw individually faced issues such as: the effects of traumatization on self and relationships, chronic and/or excessive anger, infidelity, anxiety, depression, brain trauma, chronically unsatisfying socialization and communications habits, emotional instability, impulsiveness, chronic pain, addictions, gender issues, financial and career difficulties, existential issues, and physical disability.
