  • Hi Susan: Being a business owner really opened my eyes to paying better attention to finances. My husband and I have been looking at the bottom line to running our businesses and our personal finances and decided that debt has got to go. Of course, getting out of debt requires we understand the nature of our finances so we don't repeat the process. It never ceases to amaze me how much we really don't know about the things that affect our lives so much. I'm all for getting educated, even when it is something I'd rather not learn (talk about fear and denial!). Thanks for bringing these issues to the forefront and reminding us all that we are in control of our own situations, for better or worse, it is what we make of it that matters.

  • Tshombe, I guess you are part of the team of messengers that are supposed to remind me that everything flows into the appropriate channels if I stay true to my authentice self. The message has been coming through loud and clear from all over including from Lynne Wednesday night. Thanks for the reiminder by offering this great teleseminar.

  • Hey Susan, keep me posted on this event. Ray and I might sign up closer to the event. We loved the last walk you did here.

  • Thanks ladies for all the fabulous input tonight at the event. If we do even half of the things we talked about we will have some great events planned for our biznik community.

As a reminder, don't forget to send me your email with the list of events that you are interested in doing, venue suggestions etc. I will organize a group on Biznik per your suggestions for us to all stay connected and accountable.

Lori I know you are getting ready to travel a lot next year so you are excused but I challenge each of you other ladies to do one event a month. Take time between Christmas and New Year and plan out what you would like to do each month. (If you need help thinking it through or planning, just send me an email I would be happy to help you).

Here is to happy event planning and lots of fun events in the future!

  • So I have a few things that I do. Generally the first thing I do is go to the water. Standing on the shore, listening to the lapping of the water and seeing an endless stretch of water in front of me reminds me that I am part of a bigger whole and that the situation I am in at the moment is just a part of the bigger whole of my life. It puts me back in the right mind frame to make forward progression.

Second, I pick up a book, listen to an audio or a teleseminar that puts me back in the "positive" mind frame.

Third, I write down all the negatives in one column and then in the another column I turn them into positives. Example: Negative = no money to pay all my bills. Positive = all my basic needs are being met. It really helps to change my focus to the positive aspect of what I am currently feeling as a negative.

Last but not least - I keep a daily graititude journal. It helps to go back and reread all the reasons I have to be grateful for the place I find myself in at this current time.

  • I'm really bummed I can't attend this event. I have to work in Seattle this evening. I would love to hear how it goes and I hope you do another one.

As for future events - well, as you know I am all on board for creating more fun events for us Bellingham Biznikers.

  • I lve Kelly's format for reply so I'll follow suit....

Style of Events: Some educational, Mostly social, unique (not just at the local restaurant kind of events)

Times: I'm pretty flexible on time. I wouldn't mind some weekend stuff but things that run too late into the evening generally get overruled by my family life.

Number/Size: I tend to like smaller events as you get more of a chance to really get to know the other attendees. However, there is a lot of power and dynamics in meeting in large groups. (they can really fuel the passion to connect)

Price: I probably wouldn't pay more than $25 to attend a netwoking/educational event. I love being able to go and be responsible to "buy a drink or an appetizer". It puts the financial output in my hands which can be important in these economic times.

Hosting: I'm hosting my first event and have a couple ideas for others. I would always be willing to discuss co-hosting Biznik events with others.

  • Hello all you other BWSIBC'ers. My name is Trina Bol and my business title is Eventologist. What does that mean and how can that help me you might be asking.....

Well, I am an event planner. If it's a get-together, for any reason, I can design it, organize it and put it all together into a completed event. (And yes, I can even stick within a budget)

My partner and I do everything from children's birthday parties to corporate events for thousands of guests. Our company has an eleven year history in the ever evolving events industry so there isn't much we haven't seen or heard of.

We really love to help other businesses reach out to their communities, clients and employees in ways they might not have thought of by hosting events. Our other great love? We love to take people to fun places and help them have a great time. Like taking scrapbookers to Hawaii for 4 days or a group of 15 people to Vermont for a photo tour when the fall foilage comes in. If you can imagine it, we can do it.

  • Hi Tshombe! I just wanted to say thank you for hosting this teleseminar. Joe Nunziata, author of Spiritual Selling for the New Economy, had so many good things to share. It seems like every day I meet more and more entreprenuers who are allowing business to become more than just a way to make money. They are choosing to express their spirituality through their businesses and using spiritual principles to run their businesses. It is refreshing to see the changes in how people are approaching business practices. I think my favorite thing Joe said was that as entreprenuers we have to learn to receive not just give. We have all become good at giving to others, helping others, taking action when we see the need but it so much harder to open ourselves up and truly accept the gifts when they flow in our direction. Embrace the gifts that come your way should be every entreprenuers motto. Thanks again for putting this together to share his message with us. I truly appreciate it.

  • We created this as a form, a suggestion from Tshombe Brown (Bizniker too) called The Perfect Introduction and have sent it out to all the vendors and venues we work with. It introduces our company like you expressed in your article and then gives them a blank copy to fill in for their company and submit back to us so we can refer them to the appropriate clients. It works really well. I'm glad you posted this article. More people should take advantage of this process.

  • This was brilliantly expressed! As Terra pointed out, we are constantly surrounded by clues and inspiration...we need only become keen observers to follow where they lead. Being an entreprenuer is more than simply running a business, it is holding a vision and following your heart to achieve it. It takes the whole of your being...mental, spiritual, physical and emotional.

  • David this was perfect - at the perfect time!

I don't believe in focusing my attention on "Doomsday Thinking" and I certainly don't want my business "reacting" instead of taking action. I firmly belive that the company that remains focused during down times is the same company that rises to the top when economic times swing back up.

I also believe there is enough business for everyone - even if you have to work for it - and that soloprenuers and entreprenuers stand a better chance of getting those local community dollars in economic down times than big corporations that have to expend BIG $ to keep their "share".

People want to support local business and even more so when economic crunches come. Who wants to see the local businesses go by the wayside? No One! Communities ban together in economic down times - at least my local community has and that is one of the reasons I love living in the great Northwest!

  • Well, I want to add my thanks for bringing this video to us very lucky few that got the chance to participate. Sometimes the best interactions come from smaller intimate groups and this was a perfect topic and event for that kind of interaction.

I found that this video was a very good reminder for me about a lot of things and gave me a few things to really think on which I know will only lead to further personal growth simplyby challenging my current belief patterns.

Again - thank you Meredith and Jim. This was a real blessing and came at the perfect moment.
