By profession I am a speech/language therapist working with Pre-K children in the Hempstead School District. By circumstances (will explain), my son and I are cafe owners. The circumstances are thus: son going to NYU, meets cafe owner in the city, handshake and loose agreement to partner together. Long story shorter, after lease signed lawyers turn loose agreement into nightmare, making it impossible financially for us to partner. At this point, my son and I are working very hard to become a real asset to our community. We have expanded into catering as we are located right in front of Winthrop Hospital. In addition, we have various groups that use our cafe for their meeting i.e. group from Hoftra University that meets for sign language practice, Italian language group, L.I. Photography group will be holding their first photography exhibition at our cafe starting on May 4th (exhibit for entire month). We are working with various local artists to give them the opportunity to exhibit/sell their work. We also will be starting (May) musicians and even a psychic (well renowned that works with Police Dept.). We want to be a very viable part of Mineola...where people can come to relax, hang-out and meet old and new friends. [less]
