A physician and oncologist with nearly 20 years of experience in medicine, Dr. Veshana Ramiah brings an uncommon level of professionalism and excellence to her field. Raised in South Africa, Dr. Veshana Ramiah entered the University of the Witwatersrand Medical School in Johannesburg. From 1984 to 1990, Dr. Veshana Ramiah studied a vast array of topics and performed various medical procedures at the University of the Witwatersrand. Upon earning her MB BCh in 1990, Dr. Veshana Ramiah interned at the Johannesburg General Hospital, where she focused on internal medicine and surgery from January 1991 to December 1992. At the end of her period with Johannesburg General Hospital, Dr. Veshana Ramiah became House Officer of Nephrology at Livingstone Hospital in South Africa in January 1992. Dr. Veshana Ramiah held this post for nearly three years before accepting a position abroad with Locums in U.K. From January 1995 to December 1995, Dr. Veshana Ramiah served as Senior House Officer of Oncology for Locums in U.K. After Locums in U.K., Dr. Veshana Ramiah took on the role of Research Registrar in the Hematology/Oncology division at one of Europe's largest cancer centers, Royal Marsden Hospital, where she stayed until March 1999. Dr. Veshana Ramiah later completed an internship/residency in America at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Beginning in July 2000, Dr. Veshana Ramiah diversified her professional and academic training in Internal Medicine and was elected Chief Resident at Henry Ford Hospital in July 2003 based on her clinical skills, professionalism, interpersonal skills, dedication and leadership skills. Recognizing her aptitude and experience, the Duke University Medical Center awarded Dr. Veshana Ramiah a fellowship in hematology/oncology in July 2004. Dr. Veshana Ramiah thrived in this role and earned a number of honors as a result of her work, including the American Society of Hematology Clinical Research Training Award, the Hemophilia and Thrombosis Mentored Research Award, and the Southern Society for Clinical Investigator Award. Duke University Medical Center hired Dr. Veshana Ramiah to the GU Oncology Faculty in November 2007. Dr. Veshana Ramiah currently works at Duke university, a national and international cancer center of excellence.
