  • *Blatant Brag* - Don't climb without a rope...

After reading and listening to many of you I have learned that when I have a big win or success I should brag about it.

I got a call from Amy Woidtke on Friday. She needed serious help. Her laptop was not booting and she could not work on a new project she had in the pipeline.

Amy has been a subscriber to Data Lodge, my Internet Data Backup company, since November of 2007. She locked in her lifetime subscription price at $5 per month. Anyway, she did not have any incidents with her computer for the whole year, until Friday.

We determined that her hard drive had failed completely. Fortunately, she had Data Lodge backing up her data each night to our central servers. She dropped her failed computer off and we replaced the hard drive and had the system reloaded and back to her by 6 PM the same day, with all of her data intact. This would not have been possible without Data Lodge.

Just as most trapeze artists don't work without a net and most rock climbers don't climb without a rope, you should not operate a computer without data protection. If your indie business is reliant on a computer, you need Data Lodge. If you want to try Data Lodge free for 20 days, create an account today!

  • Computer Support Partnerships??

One of the things I have noticed in running Data Lodge for over three years is that my best source of clients are computer support companies. I have partners that use Data Lodge as the exclusive solution for their client data protection.

By offloading the backup responsibilities you are free to focus on the core of your business. My company monitors all of our Data Lodge Pro clients on a nightly basis. If there are any problems, I am there to fix them as an extension of your company. We are not only here for our clients, we are here for you and your clients.

So, how many of you computer support people are looking for a better backup solution?

  • Fear based marketing: Does it work, is it wrong?

In the Internet Backup industry I see so much fear based marketing. I have discussed this with experts and novices alike and would love to hear what the Biznik community has to say about this.

    Is fear based marketing wrong?

Am I missing the boat by taking what I perceive to be the moral high ground in marketing?

Do you experience the same issues in your business?

Sorry if I am ripping off your topic about Sex, Spike...

  • Indie Data Backup - this is boring but important

I posted a couple of weeks back wondering how you folks are backing up your important business data. Only a few of you answered and most of you were technical people.

So, I am asking again. I want you to know that despite the fact that this is a boring subject, it is vital to you staying in business.

When I think about data loss, I can feel a pit in my stomach like Pavlov's dog. You see, I have been in situations where I have lost data, as have many of you. Sometimes, it is not a big deal. It is only a word document that you can retype but sometimes it is your PhD thesis paper or your company QuickBooks file. These are the times when data backup becomes an important issue.

So, how do you backup your data? How often do you backup your data?

If you want to stay anonymous but want more information about data backup or recovery from data loss, please message me directly. I will keep your information confidential.

  • Data Backup Methodolgy Webcasts

    Folks,

In the past I have offered webcasts on the different methods of Data Backup to large groups. I would like to gauge the community interest in offering these webcasts to the biznik community.

The webcasts last about 30 minutes and cover the basics of tape backup, hard drive backup, cd /dvd backup, flash memory backup, internet backup, etc. We go over the inherent strengths and weaknesses of each and cover ways to bolster the strengths and counter the weaknesses. The goal of the webcast is to make your data backups rock solid no matter which method you are using.

    Is anybody interested?

  • Data Backup Survey

I am very interested in what kind of data backup solution you are using to keep your valuable business data safe. As indie business owners you represent a very large segment of my audience and I want to make sure I serve you as best as I can.

What I really want to know is:

What type of backup do you do (tape, DVD, hard drive, internet, etc)?

How often do you do it (daily, weekly, monthly)?

Who actually does the work (you, an employee, an outside contractor)?

How much time do you spend on it each month?
