Top 10 Tips - Article by David Meerman Scott

Here's another great article on speaker tips. I especially like his tip about the use of Power Point slides ... I actually agree with one of the commenters who said "don't use Power Point slides during your presentation." I also thought it was interesting that David says to not provide handouts when you speak. He suggests, instead, that you have a ebook on your website that folks can download. Smart move. It is a way for you to grow your list with people who are eager to give you their contact info in exchange for the information that you have created a hunger for. Let me know your thoughts. Here's the link to his article.

Tips for Speakers from a Photographer

I read an article tonight that was written by a photographer. I thought it was a very good article written from the perspective of the audience and I hope you enjoy reading the article as well.

    Vision for this Group

Thank you for joining this group!

My great desire for us here is that we have a place to let each other know what kind of speaking opportunities we are looking for. This will be a place where we can share ideas and tips for improving our speaking skills. This will also be a place to share resources.

Eventually, I would like this group to create enough interest that event planners will find their way here to use this group as a resource to find speakers for their events.

As an event planner with 2 events each month in need of speakers on a business topic, I know first hand that finding good speakers with relevant and timely information can sometimes be daunting.

I hope you'll join me here in writing articles and creating discussions that will help us all improve our ability to gain more visibility and enhance our expert status as we grow from being "slightly famous" in Seattle to wildly famous right here in our own backyards ... and beyond!

Strategic Business Introduction at Seattle Mariners 4-8-09

We have an exciting and fun SBI coming up on the 8th of April that I think many of you will enjoy. This SBI is going to be held at Safeco Field in the Executive Conference room of the Mariner's office.

We'll also get to enjoy a tour of the Suites prior to the start of the SBI.

This SBI is listed on the eWomenNetwork site at the link below SBI 4-8-09

It is $50.00 for members to attend and when you pay for yourself to attend, you can bring a guest at no charge. To learn more, contact Zita or Deb for more details.

Events - a third option please?

Right now there are 2 options - the event is free or the event is paid. I would like to be able to post up the eWN events so that the members can let other members know that they are attending the event. As I understand it, if I set the event up as an announcement on our group page, I can choose it as a free event ... or as a paid event. Neither of those options work because the event is not free but the site that they would pay to attend the event is at the eWN main site and not here on Biznik.

It would be great for the local members of eWN to be able to connect with each other through our Group page here on Biznik to say that yes, I'm coming to the event so that they can plan their face to face networking time when they are at the event.

Could there be a 3rd way to post an event? If I choose the free option as it stands now, people will get confused.

Perhaps a third way to post up an event is a meet me there kind of event. The key thing that I am looking for is that there would be no mention of the price to attend the event. That would be handled in the comments section on the event.

    Welcome!

This is a place where our members can come while they are on the Biznik site to connect with each other.

Since it is relatively new, I am learning the ins and outs of the group section here on Biznik.

You can post articles and events here and create discusssions.

Since I am not currently linked to all the members of eWN that are on Biznik, if you know of someone who would want to be included and they are on Biznik, please pass that info on to me.

Have fun here and continue to grow the connections that you are creating during our events!

    Thanks for coming in!

    Zita
